Summer
Summer is an ex-pacer. After her career she ended up in a kill lot because she had a hoof issue that could not be resolved. Our farrier determined that she had an infection in the hoof that had never been treated. The sole of the hoof grew faster than the outer hoof wall so it was painful when she walked. The farrier began cupping out the sole to keep her comfortable. Her hoof was then x-rayed, showing that the coffin bone had begun to deteriorate. With consistent adaptive farrier work, the hoof wall is now growing at a more normal rate and we have found that having her wear a boot keeps her comfortable and ridable.
Summer is Adoptable. But you can play a vital role in her rehabilitation and care by becoming her Sponsor today.
“When riding a horse we leave our fear, troubles, and sadness behind on the ground.”
