Turning Interest Into Action

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Just A Horse Rescue and Sanctuary emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2021, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Contact us to learn more and get involved.

Just A Horse Rescue and Sanctuary wants to spread our message of hope and compassion. We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly each day to contribute their part to the greater good.

“There is no secret so close as that between a rider and his horse.”

Winston
In Loving Memory

Winston was what I considered my first rescue, back before JAHRS was founded. In 2015 a friend and I decided we each wanted to give at least one horse a better life. So we went to a local feed lot. Winston, with only having one eye, was being picked on by the other horses he was in with. He had several bite and kick marks on his body. After a short ride on him, I decided he was the one to bring home. He became my granddaughter’s horse. He was the best teacher she could have had. She rode him on trail rides, road rides, at the local gymkhana, in our arena; bareback and with a saddle. He never spooked and did whatever she asked. He started having hip issues so he was seen frequently by a chiropractor, but eventually even that didn’t help so he was retired into our sanctuary in 2021. He was allowed to wander the property, becoming the “WalMart Greeter”. He had to check out all visitors, would accept a few pets, then would go beck to his grazing. When he stopped eating we had the vet out and she took bloodwork; it showed that he had significant liver disease. As he continued to not eat, it was decided to help him transition home. Winston was the favorite of many of our volunteers and will always have a special place in many hearts.
