"Volunteering at Just a Horse Sanctuary & Rescue has been such a gift for our family — especially for my daughter, who is on the autism spectrum and lives with selective mutism.

At first, she was quiet and hesitant, unsure what to expect. But something incredible happened when she met the horses. They didn’t ask her for words — they simply understood her calm presence. Over time, they’ve drawn her out in ways I never imagined possible. She’s more confident, more expressive, and happier, and seems to have such a special bond with all the horses, and the horses know her too!

Watching her connect with them is pure magic. The horses seem to sense her gentle heart, and in return, they’ve given her a safe space to open up — in her own way, at her own pace."
